The Mansfield/Richland County Convention & Visitors Bureau walked away with three awards this year at the Ohio Association of Convention & Visitors Bureaus Awards lunch. The first two submissions swept the Promotional Video category in our budget tier, taking first place (Shawshank Anniversary promo video) and second place (Shawshank Reflection video).   The Richland B&O Bike Trail map was awarded second place in the Brochure/Flyer/Rack Card category.

The Ohio Association of Convention & Visitors Bureaus (OACVB) held its 17th Annual Awards of Excellence Luncheon in Columbus, Ohio on Wednesday, September 24, 2014. MIDDY Awards are presented for destination marketing and tourism development. Amir Eylon, former Ohio Tourism Director and current Vice President of Partner Engagement for Brand USA, served as Master of Ceremonies.

The MIDDY Award name reflects our region of the country”, said Randie Adams, Chairperson of the OACVB MIDDY Awards for 2014. “Recipients are recognized for excellence in objective, results, creativity and originality.” 121 entries were received in print, advertising, promotion, social media, TV/Video, digital, strategy, graphics, and radio. All entries are judged by a team of experts in the communications, advertising, public relations, publications and/or tourism fields from outside of the OACVB membership.

Convention and visitors bureaus are best described as destination marketing organizations and are responsible for travel and tourism product awareness to visitors. Many outstanding marketing projects were submitted for the annual awards competition. Being recognized for a job well-done in the promotion of travel and tourism throughout the state of Ohio is a highly valued achievement.

In addition, the Ohio Travel Association held their annual Conference on Tourism in October 15-17 and awarded the Mansfield/Richland County CVB with a coveted RUBY award for the Richland B&O Bike Trail brochure.  "We are thrilled the B&O brochure was recognized as tops in our category as competition was tight this year," said Lee Tasseff, CVB President."I am very happy for our biggest partner, the Richland Community Development Group, in making the printing of the brochure possible and to distribution partner Henley Graphic Services, Inc."

Added Tasseff, "Many outstanding marketing projects were submitted for the annual awards competition against other Convention & Visitors Bureaus and tourism businesses/attractions across the state.  Being recognized for a job well-done in the promotion of travel and tourism throughout the state of Ohio is a highly valued achievement."
