Ridin’ the Rodeo

The Richland County Fair kicks off August 7th and features a variety of high energy events such as the Rodeo on August 9th! Watch as expert riders from the Southern Extreme Bull Riding Association, SEBRA, fight to stay on a wild, bucking bull.  If one night of danger and fun isn’t enough for you, head on over to Spitzer Motor Speedway to experience even more bull riding! Both of these sanctioned events are guaranteed to keep you on the edge of your seats. Check out the full schedule of events for fair week and Spitzer Motor Speedway.

Festivals and Fun!

Many upbeat and energetic festivals take place this month. Head on over to Plymouth on August 6th for the Color Riot 5K Run/ Walk. This is so much more than an average race as it will be held at night and filled with black lights, neon inflatables, slip and slides, and a live DJ! The party doesn’t stop with this race because Ohio Dreams is hosting EST Fest that same weekend and the world-famous Machine Gun Kelly will be headlining the event. Ohio Dreams will also be hosting a Sports and Music Fest later this month. SAM Fest will feature their well-known Slip ‘N’ Fly, helicopter rides, sky diving, camping, and live music making it one of the most extreme and adrenaline filled events in all of Ohio! The annual Lexington Blueberry Festival will also be returning this month and never disappoints with its glow run, parade, pageants, vendors, and a spectacular firework display. Finally be sure to stop out at the last Final Friday of the summer at The Brickyard. Enjoy a local brew from Phoenix Brewery and enjoy live and local music entertainment.  “Windows down and cruise”

Ready for an amazing car show? Check out the 21st Annual Heart of the City Cruise In on August 27th. This was ranked number 3 in the state of Ohio for midsized car shows by Crusin Times Magazine. There will be prizes, kid’s activities, live entertainment, and plenty of food vendors. For a smaller cruise in on the lake, head over to the Charles Mill- Motorcycle Cruise In. All makes and models of bikes are welcome and proceeds go to the Wounded Warriors. Speed, adrenaline, and mass amounts of excitement are what you can expect when the NASCAR XFINITY Series comes to Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course August 12th- 13th.  This race weekend will be jam packed with Columbus Children’s Choir and Nationwide Children’s Hospital patient champion participation, pre-race fireworks, autograph sessions and so much more.

Shop ‘til You Drop

The Ohio Lincoln BUY-WAY Yard Sale kicks off on August 13th. This series of yard sales along the Lincoln Highway will have you finding some amazing hidden treasures. Last year there was over 1,000 yard sale events, so there will be no shortage of shopping and fun this year! Flea in the Field, a new event to 2016, will be on Saturday August 20th in The Brickyard. At this curated market you can purchase anything from antiques, art, food, upcycled furniture and much more. Downtown Mansfield hosts a First Friday Shop Hop each month. Local businesses offer entertainment and deals for all ages. August’s Shop Hop falls on this year’s TAX FREE WEEKEND! During this state holiday, clothing priced at $75 per item or less, school supplies priced at $20 per item or less, and school instructional material priced at $20 per item or less are exempt from sales tax. This is the perfect opportunity to start gathering school supplies at an unbeatable price!
