Miss Ohio Festival - Historic Carrousel District

Opening Ceremonies for this year pageant are Friday, June 12, 4:45 PM.  Twenty-five contestants will be downtown at 5:30 pm in Central Park.  They will be introduced and available for autographs. The Red Ball Jets will perform on the Main Stage from 8:30-11pm cranking out country and country-rock music.  Also available is a beer garden, food vendors, craft show, rides and games and a magic show with bobby Maverick.

Saturday's activities include a 5K race at Mansfield Lahm Airport at 8:30am.  From noon till 11pm food vendors, crafts, rides, games and magic.  G-Force will perform from 7-9pm on the main stage and Tony Rio will take over at 9pm till 11pm.

Sunday at noon till 2pm come for Gospel on the Gazebo, "Spiritual Uplift."  Food vendors will be available from noon till 6pm along with rides, crafts games and magic.  At 2pm, the Mansfield Elks present the Miss Ohio Parade from Marion and Maple to Park Avenue to the Square.  This year's parade feature are The Budweiser Clydesdales - the eight horse hitch, its famous red beer wagon and their Dalmation.   You will be able to take pictures from 4-5pm on Park Avenue East.  Closing for the weekend will be at 4-6pm with Gospel on the Gazebo, "Spiritual Uplift".  Admission to the Miss Ohio Festival is free.

North Central Ohio Safe Boating & Fishing Festival - Pleasant Hill Lake Park

The North Central Ohio Safe Boating and Fishing Festival will be held  at Pleasant Hill Lake Park. Free admission to the park with free boat rides, kayaks, sailboats, fishing for kids, boat show, safety displays and door prizes.   All events are first come first served.  You may have to wait in line for some activities.  All events are weather dependent.  Those interested may also take the Ohio Boating Education Exam.  The first 100 children under 12 will receive a  free life-jacket.

Underwater Insects - Gorman Nature Center

Explore the lives of the insects that live under and on the surface of the water.  We will visit the Center's aquatic habitats in search of larva, nymphs and adults of the caddis flies, dragon and damsel flies, water scorpions, dipterans and many others that make these areas their homes, at least part of the time.  Come dressed to be at water' edge.  Nets will be provided for particiapnt use.  (weather permitting)  Free to the public.

Ashland Chautauqua - Brookside Park Band Shell

ASHLAND CHAUTAUQUA programs are fun for the entire family!  The community meets to learn from and talk with historical figures from our country's past.  In addition to major Chautauqua performances on the grand Band Shell stage, each presenter makes special appearances and presents daytime programs for youth and adults.  The theme of the tenth annual ASHLAND CHAUTAUQUA is American Dreams: Progress in Business and Industry, and will take place June 23 - 27 at the Myers Memorial Band Shell beginning at 7 pm.  This year's program will feature portrayals of important American entrepreneurs:  Julia Child, Walt Disney, Juana Briones, and Ben Franklin.  The program's fifth component will be a local history presentation written and directed by our own Deleasa Randall-Griffiths. 

ASHLAND CHAUTAUQUA main performances are held at the Myers Memorial Band Shell, located in Brookside Park near the intersection of West Main Street and Brookside Drive.

In the event of inclement weather, performances will be held in the auditorium of Ashland Senior High School, located at 1440 King Road.

Federation of Musician Concerts - Seltzer Park

The American Federation of Musicians will provide live music again this summer with a series of concerts to be held at Seltzer Park in Shelby, OH;  Kingwood Center in Mansfield and the Downtown Gazebo in Crestline.  All the concerts will begin at 7 pm and will feature many area groups playing a wide variety of music.  The concert series will run for six weeks in each of the communities.  All the concerts are free and open to the public.

Free Fridays - Historic Carrousel District

Enjoy  classic cars, free rides at Richland Carrousel Park and live entertainment. This event will take place on Final Fridays throughout the summer. The Last Friday of the month concert featuring entertainment by Michael Kelsey. a performance artist who brews soul, funk and even a little bit of the blues into a guitar festival.  He has created a syle that is best described as "progressive-agressive accoustic guitar".  His performances sometimes sound as if he were playing more than one guitar.  He is "well versed in enterttaining and at every show he creates a rare army of sound that comes from one man. a voice and an acoustic guitar.  The concert will be held in the Temple Court Parking lot in front of City Perks.  This event is free, beverages will be available and lawn chairs are encouraged.

Kingwood Concerts - Kingwood Center

Six Free concerts will be presented this summer in the Courtyard of Kingwood Center.  Concerts are from 7 PM to 8:30 PM.  Incase of rain, the concert will be moved to the Meeting Hall or Exhibit Hall.  Ths first concert of the summer will feature Stardust.  Mark your calendars for the upcoming concerts:  July 3rd  features the American Federation of Musicians Concert Band; July 10th features the American Federation of Musicians Jazz Band; July 17 features the Percy Hall Orchestra; July 31st features Good Company; and the final concert on Aug. 7 will feature the Rib Ticklers.  Plan on attending these free concerts and support our area musicians.
