The 74th edition of the Carson and Barnes Circus will bring almost 100 performers and animals to town for 4:30 and 7:30 p.m. performances July 6 at Ohio 97 and Interstate 71. The Clear Fork Chamber of Commerce and the local Lions Club will use the event as a fundraiser to support local community projects.
Advance general admission tickets are available at Stoodt's Market, the Bellville Star, Dairy Belle and Fast Eddies in Bellville; at Richland Bank Hitchman's Market and Weekley's in Butler; at Edward Jones in Lexington; at Morrow County Sentinel in Mount Gilead; First Knox Bank in Fredericktown; and The Loudonville Tribune. Super Saver tickets are $25 for two adults and three children. Individual adult and children's tickets will be available at the gate for $18 adult and $10 children.
Carson and Barnes Circus travels with its city-block long tent to 200 towns and cities each season, the only organization that moves such a huge show to a new site nearly every day, transforming a vacant lot into Circus City USA. Set-up is a free show in itself, starting when the first units of the caravan begin arriving about an hour after dawn. More than two dozen types of exotic and domestic animals, featuring a large traveling zoo, are unloaded, fed and watered and made available for viewing. Adding to the excitement is the final and most popular experience of all, as humans, elephants and technology work side-by-side to erect the Big Top.
