Jim Malcolm was brought up in Perthshire and Angus and was introduced to the traditional music of Scotland at an early age by his mother who is active in the folk music scene. He learned to play guitar in school and by his early twenties was winning songwriter competitions and playing folk clubs all over Scotland. His first CD was chosen as one of the year’s best by Radio Scotland’s folk programs, Travelling Folk and Celtic Connections. He was dubbed: “The new male voice of Scotland.” After this, Jim was asked to give songwriting and song accompaniment master classes at many festivals, including Scotland’s foremost festival, Celtic Connections in Glasgow. Jim is the former lead singer of the popular Scottish band, Old Blind Dogs.
