As we approach the close of the first decade of the new millennium, tourism continues to play an essential roll in Richland County’s economy. Visitors annually infuse over $267 million in new spending, add $7,500,000 in local tax dollars that provide vital services to residents and support over 4,100 jobs. All while presenting an inviting and positive image of our community for the rest of Ohio and the United States to see.

This past year saw the full effect of the slowing economy, but will be best known for what was accomplished. Especially notable is the bureau staff for overcoming the difficulties of working with reduced personnel and funding. Listed Inside are key accomplishments from 2010.

Challenges await in the year ahead and the staff is working harder than ever to bring in more visitors and to develop future offerings to keep them coming back. With the help of the board, community leaders and most importantly our members, the future of tourism in Richland County is bright. Thanks for a solid 2010 and here’s to a successful 2011!
