Navigate your way around Mansfield and the surrounding area visiting the same sites as Hollywood once did. This web site has been developed for fans of the Shawshank Redemption movie.

How to Use This Site:

  • Travel the Shawshank Trail at your own pace in your car.
  • This is not a walking tour.  Some locations are 1 hour from each other.
  • If you have a motorcoach group interested in a two-day tour of the Shawshank Trail, contact Jodie Puster at the Mansfield Convention & Visitors Bureau at 800-642-8282 ext. 32 or jpuster@mansfieldtourism.com for more details.
  • You may start where you want and end where you want; it's up to you!  To make your tour easy, we have routed the Trail for you so there is less back-tracking and easy navigation.
  • There are 12 locations where Hollywood filmed this movie and we've named it the "Shawshank Trail".
  • One of the most popular attractions along the Shawshank Trail is the Historic Ohio State Reformatory. We encourage you to use this web site to visit all 12 locations along the Trail to enhance your visit.
  • Visit attractions, restaurants, shops, recreational, entertainment venues and lodging facilities along the Trail and other points of interest nearby the Trail. Just look for the links provided under each site.
  • To customize where you want to begin and end on the Shawshank Trail, click on the interactive Map to design your own tour route.
  • There is also a mobile site:  http://mobile.shawshanktrail.com/
  • Friend us on Facebook.  Search for "The Shawshank Trail."
  • Share your Shawshank photos with us! Click on the Submit Photo icon and we may post it on this web site.
  • For a more nostalgic drive between Mansfield and Upper Sandusky, take the Historic Lincoln Highway. Look for the Lincoln Highway icons on the Interactive Map and beside the attractions listed under Take the Trail section. Also, look for markers along the road.
